Public Hearings

The AARTO Amendment Bill, 2015 [B38B-2015] was passed by the National Assembly on 5 September 2017 and is now before the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) for final approval, before being signed into law.

Section 118 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa  makes it a duty of a provincial legislature to facilitate public involvement in the legislative and other processes of the legislature and its committees and to that end, all provincial legislatures in South Africa must hold public hearings and consider written submissions from the public regarding the AARTO Amendment Bill, 2015.
